The Shanghai Yanhua Foundation successfully held its 2021 annual meeting on December 4, 2021. Members of the foundation, the supervisory committee of the foundation, leaders and experts of Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, experts of Pediatrics Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, experts of Shanghai Children's Hospital, and others all attended the meeting.

　　During the meeting, Ms. Yang, chairmen of the foundation, reviewed and summarized the progress of the foundation in 2021 along with the results of several charity projects.

　　Ms. Yang’s Address to the Foundation

　　According to chairman Yang, the Shanghai Yanhua Charity Foundation launched the "Children's Liver Transplant Charity Relief Project” in July 2021, a project dedicated to the relief of children with end-stage liver disease. As of November 2021, the project has helped nearly 170 children with end-stage liver disease, covering 22 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country.

　　Dr. Shen Conghuan, a director of Shanghai Yanhua Charity Foundation and head of the children’s liver transplant team of Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan Univeristy, analyzed the surgeries performed under the "Children's Liver Transplant Charity Relief Project” in 2021 and followed up by speaking about their postoperative recovery. Among the children who were a part of the project, more than 55% were under the age of 1. Also among the children who were a part of the project, more than 44% suffered from biliary atresia. Judging from return visits after the surgeries, most of the recovery process is going smoothly.

　　During the meeting, Mr. Huang, chairman of the board of supervisors of the foundation and a senior partner of Beijing Longan Law Firm, delivered a speech giving suggestions regarding the foundation’s internal supervision, resource management, and future development.

On behalf of the foundation, they thanked those present for their support and contributions to the foundation. They hope to build an even more efficient and professional platform with more people involved so that they can more effectively help those in need.

　　Several experts, including deputy director of the department of hepatology at the Pediatrics Hospital of Fudan University, Xie Xinbao, and the deputy direct of general surgery at Shanghai Children’s Hospital, Liu Jiangbin, gave valuable advice regarding the foundation and the future development of the "Children's Liver Transplant Charity Relief Project”.

　　2021 has been a year of historical significance. The world has undergone changes as a global pandemic sweep across the world, complicating the work environment, at Yanhua included. Despite the hardship, the Shanghai Yanhua Charity Foundation, on the basis of professional experience and resources, has continued to make breakthroughs in the charity world, helping those in need.
