Passing on Kindness | Yanhua Little Volunteers Join the SAS Community Giving Event

Previously, the Pudong Campus of Shanghai American School (SAS) hosted a “SAS Community Giving” event. Shanghai Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation supported the event by providing charitable goods and joining student volunteers in running a fundraising booth, turning kindness into meaningful action.

The event was organized by the school together with the Parent Association. Through fundraising sales, interactive activities, and other engaging formats, the event encouraged students, teachers, and families to pay attention to social welfare and support various charitable initiatives through creative fundraising. By bringing together the efforts of the school community, the event helped promote the values of public welfare and social responsibility.

At the event, two elementary school students from Shanghai American School volunteered to participate as young volunteers. They chose to donate all proceeds from their booth to the Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation’s charitable project on Alipay, “Lighting the Way for Children on Their Liver Transplant Journey.” They hoped to contribute to the well-being of children in need through their efforts.

On the day of the event, the two students stayed at the booth throughout the activity, actively inviting passersby to join their games and patiently explaining how the funds raised would be used. They had prepared everything themselves in advance: designing interactive games, setting the rules, preparing prizes, and practicing how to introduce the charitable project. Through the experience, they not only gained confidence in communicating with others, but also developed a genuine understanding of the meaning of helping others.

Harry, a high school student and foundation volunteer who performed with the school orchestra, came straight to the booth to help after his performance. He actively introduced the foundation to fellow students and teachers, sharing its belief that “small actions can come together to create greater kindness.”

In the end, all proceeds raised through this child-led fundraising booth, with support from the foundation, were donated to the Lighting the Way for Children on Their Liver Transplant Journey project. The funds will be dedicated to supporting children who have undergone liver transplantation with their postoperative medical care and rehabilitation.

For Yanhua Public Welfare Foundation, participating in campus activities is not only a way to put public welfare into practice, but also an opportunity to bring charitable initiatives beyond traditional settings and help more people understand and embrace the cause.

We have always believed that public welfare is not only about bringing together resources and support, but also about passing on kindness and nurturing awareness of social responsibility. When more young people take the initiative to engage with and participate in public welfare, kindness can continue to grow and be passed on.

Thank you to every young volunteer who gave their time and effort, and to everyone who supported the event. Every small act of kindness helps light a path of hope for children facing difficult circumstances.
